Event Description:

Join AES on this passive house bus tour departing from the Better Buildings Better Business conference on Friday March 2, 2012.

The NewenHouse project is a remarkable home in Southwestern Wisconsin designed to meet LEED Platinum and has recently earned Passive House certification. Join us for a site visit and educational experience in high-performance home building on this informative 2-hour tour.

The NewenHouse project is designed as an affordable home emphasizing local and natural materials. They are on track to meet Passive House performance standards using a double wall system (2″x4″ wall with 12″ Larsen Truss) and great attention to air sealing. Learn more at the NewenHouse project blog, part of Natural Home Magazine. The home is so energy efficient, it does not need a furnace and is heated with minimal electricity (about as much as used by a hair dryer).
