Course Agenda:

1 Hour – Demystifying Residential Green Certification Options & Codes – Understand how as an HVAC contractor you fit in the bigger pictures of residential codes and popular local, state, regional and national 3rd party market based voluntary green home programs.  Be positioned and ready for code upgrades and to take advantage of the new Green MLS, where homeowner’s will be given the knowledge and tools to demand green rated homes. Don’t get left behind

2 Hours – Advanced Energy Corporation video training PT 1 on Navigating the Energy Star Version HVAC Checklist and Submittal Process

1 Hour Tour of an actual Energy Star Version 3 home that is under construction with HVAC installed or completed. Tour this home with the energy rater and/or HVAC contractor and be able to visually what is required for high performance home installs, ask questions and go over a proper manual J & D calculations.

1 Hour Lunch

2 Hours – Advanced Energy Corporation video training PT 2 on Navigating the Energy Star Version HVAC Checklist and Submittal Process

2 Hours – Complete the final exam to be approved as a credentialed Qualified HVAC Contractor.

Benefits: Become Credentialed to work on Energy Star Version 3, DOE Challenge Home, Passive House, LEED for Homes Version V4 and gain credit in the GreenStar Program. Be identified as a high performance HVAC and get the Job.

Continuing Education –  6 CEs – NATE, GBCI, MI Contractor & NARI Green

Those installing systems in ENERGY STAR qualified homes are need to ensure are properly trained and qualified to perform HVAC QI services, EPA is requiring that contractors:

  1. Document that they possess the knowledge, skills, abilities, and tools (e.g., through training, work experience, and/or company policies) to effectively deliver the services required in the ENERGY STAR HVAC QI checklist; and
  2. Be credentialed and subject to oversight/quality assurance by an independent, third-party organization.
